Someone mentioned this band to me at Radio Clash. I of course like a fool thought I'd remember the name. How could I forget the name Spleen United? I remembered the Spleen part. On Monday I was able to ask what the name of this band was again. As soon as I got back to my laptop I looked them up. Four songs into their album Neanderthal and I really like them. He has gone to pursue his career as a solo artist, so look out for him.
This means that when next the Dragon takes to the stage,
you will find the towering Chris Hugget on the guitar knocking your rock-sox off.
This is also a fact!

The third stone cold truth is that Dragonette is taking this show on the road
and we hope you don't have to go too far to have a night out on the town that includes us.

We've done some collaborating with some cool cats,
we've made some videos, commissioned some remixes from people we love,
and all of this will be soon available for public consumption.
So... in general the message is:
"We Are Coming to Get You". This is very much a fact, so we'll see you soon.

Watch out for the commercial release of Fixin to Thrill (the single) in the last week of May,
and then for Fixin to Thrill (the album) in Aug/Sept.

There is something I've discovered since my last post. That something is the sound of heartbreak. I have been on the mend from that hence the lack of posts.

Onto better topics...I was watching some Buffy today and got inspired by Dru. Then inspiration struck and two songs floated into my grey matter. So on with the Drusilla theme we go.

First is Bells for Her by Tori Amos. It's very fitting for Dru before she became a vampire. When she was being driven insane by Angel.

This song would be the aftermath of Angel's obsession with her. Switchblade Symphony's Gutter Glitter is the perfect theme song for Dru.

Now you peeps haven't been reading Buffy season 8 you are missing out on the awesome.

Junkie XL-Cities In Dust

After years in the "goth" scene there comes a time when great songs become blah songs. Mainly due to being played to death. Siouxsie and the Banshee's Cities In Dust was one of these casualties. On Junkie XL's latest release he was able to breathe new life into the song. Sadly, it more than likely won't get played at Death Guild it's a little outside the box for some of the crowd. Perhaps the lovely DJ Starr might give it a go for the Bondage a Go Go crowd.

Here's a video someone made using the song Reload featuring Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode fame. The video makes T3 seem like a movie I'd actually enjoy, unlike the piece of scrap metal it was.

On Monday I finally got to see Patrick Wolf perform live! It was one of the most entertaining performances I've seen in awhile. I only got to see one of his opening bands. I was so impressed with the music of Bishi that I wanted to buy her CD. Sadly there weren't any to purchase, I'll just have keep an eye out for it. I do have one of her songs, although not the one I really want. Either way enjoy another sampling of Patrick Wolf, but first try out Bishi.

Siouxsie Sioux's solo album is shaping up to be my new favorite album. I plan on buying the import as soon as I can. I urge you all to do the same!! These tracks are not CD quality in hopes that you pick up the album.

This gal is from the Sugababes(a band I could never get into). This track makes me think of Kate Bush and Cocteau Twins. I just wish more of her album was like it.

I came across this band on myspace one morning. I became addicted to the track 'What A Lovely Surprise'. They have that 80's synth revival vibe mixed into a Ladytron/Fischerspooner mashup.

"MARSHEAUX are a female electro pop duo from Thessaloniki (Greece). The two girls moved in Athens on 2000 and on 2003 they made MARSHEAUX in order to express their love for the electropop of the 80's and the sounds of synthesizers and drum machines. The problem of naming the band was easily solved by combining the first syllables of their names, MARIANTHI and SOPHIE. Their first release was a cover of the classic HOT BUTTER's Popcorn with a great success in Greece. They make synthpop music in the tradition that YAZOO, HUMAN LEAGUE, DEPECHE MODE and OMD did."-from the intarweb

I've been under this bands spell of layered guitars, heavy beats, electronics and seductive vocals since '92. What better way to kick of my new music project then with my ALL time favorite band. This is Curve.

A little history lesson from the internet.
Curve was an English music group formed in 1991 chiefly around the collaboration of singer Toni Halliday and guitarist Dean Garcia. Halliday and Garcia were introduced to each other by fellow musician Dave Stewart of Eurythmics; Garcia had played bass guitar as part of Eurythmics' live band in 1983–84 and on two of their studio albums, while Halliday was signed to Stewart's Anxious Records label as a solo artist. The pair formed an ill-fated group named State Of Play in the mid-1980s before parting ways, embarking on a no less ill-fated solo career (Halliday) and further stints as a backing musician (Garcia), and then reuniting for a more long-term partnership in Curve.

Curve released three acclaimed and increasingly successful EPs throughout 1991, and made an impact on the UK album charts in 1992 with their debut LP Doppelgänger. The group also toured extensively during this period, with Halliday and Garcia being supported on stage by two additional guitarists and a drummer. Highlights of Curve's live career included a performance at the 1992 Glastonbury Festival, and a package tour of the United States with The Jesus and Mary Chain and Spiritualized.

Curve's second LP, the harder-edged Cuckoo (1993), did not repeat the UK Top 20 success of the band's debut. That fact, and the stressfulness of the tour in support of the record, may have contributed to Halliday and Garcia's decision, in 1994, to disband the group.

Curve unexpectedly returned to the music business in 1996 with the EP Pink Girl With the Blues; the following year, they released "Chinese Burn", the first single to be taken from their third all-new album Come Clean (1998). That LP, a set of songs displaying a more pronounced influence of electronic music than earlier releases, was met with a certain amount of acclaim and commercial success, which encouraged the group to continue their recording career.

The follow-up to Come Clean was an internet-only odds-and-sods collection titled Open Day at the Hate Fest; it was quickly followed by the all-new Gift (both 2001). During this period, Curve were almost as prolific as during their first three years, releasing another web-only, LP-length collection (The New Adventures of Curve) in 2002, and various download-only tracks via their official website.

A 2-CD retrospective entitled The Way of Curve summarized the group's output in 2004, before Halliday announced, in early 2005, that she had left Curve for good. Whether this is Halliday and Garcia's final curtain call, or just their most recent hiatus, remains to be seen.
